Eastside Golf Introduces 2024 Summer Interns

Eastside Golf is all about impacting the lives of young people through golf. Afterall, many people on our team, including executives Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper, understand first hand how the game can change the course of someone’s life.

That’s why, the team is thrilled to announce the commencement of our Summer 2024 Internship Program, which kicked off on June 4th. There are two deserving interns. First up, Nicholas Hosten, a sophomore at Morehouse College, the alma mater of Cooper and Ajanaku. Then there’s E.J. Sorensen Jr., who’s pursuing his passion for business and golf at Keiser University.

We’ve designed an immersive and comprehensive program to provide our interns with invaluable experiences across various departments, including Product, Sales, Content and Executive Leadership.

Meet Our Interns: Nicholas Hosten and EJ Sorensen Jr.

Nicholas Hosten Bio: A sophomore at Morehouse College from northern Virginia, Nicholas is not only on the golf team at Morehouse but also majors in Business Administration. When he’s not on the course or in class, Nicholas enjoys hanging out with friends.

EJ Sorensen Jr. Bio: Hailing from Summit, NJ, EJ is currently enrolled at Keiser University in Palm Beach, Florida. His passion for golf and business aligns perfectly with the mission of Eastside Golf.

Tell us a little about yourself (hometown, school, major, interests, hobbies, etc.):

Nicholas Hosten: I am a sophomore at Morehouse College from northern Virginia. I am on the golf team at Morehouse and enjoy hanging out with my friends. I am a business administration major.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I grew up in Summit, NJ, and I am currently enrolled in Keiser University in Palm Beach, Florida.

What motivated you to join the Eastside Golf Internship Program?

Nicholas Hosten: I am on the Morehouse golf team, and Eastside Golf supported me and my team heavily. I wanted to join the internship to learn about Eastside Golf as a business and how to help others in the future.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: The story of Eastside Golf and its purpose made me want to be part of the ESG team.

What are you most excited about learning or experiencing during your internship?

Nicholas Hosten: I am excited about learning how Eastside Golf works as a business, including product creation and marketing. I’m eager to help the company and learn as much as I can.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I am most excited about discovering what makes me special and what I excel at.

Do you have any previous work or volunteer experiences that you’d like to share?

Nicholas Hosten: I was a lifeguard in high school, which was a fulfilling first job. I also enjoyed participating in the Eastside Golf Community Day, teaching kids golf. It showed me how golf can bond people.

EJ Sorensen Jr: I currently work at Baltusrol Golf Club and have worked at GFore Palm Beach. I’ve also coached baseball for my local middle school team.

What are your career goals and aspirations?

Nicholas Hosten: I want to go to Wall Street and work in finance. I also aspire to start my own real estate business or work in the real estate industry.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: My goal is to have a successful career in the business of golf, doing something I enjoy every day.

How do you think this internship will help you achieve your career goals?

Nicholas Hosten: I believe this internship will help me understand how to help others and become more professional. It will also teach me how a business operates.

EJ Sorensen Jr.:  This internship will help me discover what makes me unique and the difference I can make in a company.

What skills or knowledge are you hoping to develop or enhance during your time with us?

Nicholas Hosten: I hope to become more professional and learn how to assist my coworkers better.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I aim to develop better communication skills and gain knowledge about production and sales.

Share a fun fact about yourself that your new teammates might find interesting.

Nicholas Hosten: I went to the Masters this year.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I like to surf and play golf in my free time.

Who is your favorite athlete or sports team and why?

Nicholas Hosten: Steph Curry, because he works hard when no one is watching. His dedication and daily practice inspire me.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: Kobe Bryant, for his mentality and work ethic.

Do you have any special talents or interests that you’re passionate about?

Nicholas Hosten: I play chess, have made five figures in sports betting due to a mathematical edge on sportsbooks, and am learning to play poker for its mathematical challenges.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I grew up playing baseball, and it remains my favorite sport.

What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV show and why?

Nicholas Hosten: “The Godfather” Pt. I and II, because of the lessons on loyalty and family.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: “Training Day” is my favorite movie because it is authentic.

Is there anything else you’d like your new team to know about you?

Nicholas Hosten: I am excited to learn as much as I can. I am here to make things easier for you, so please feel free to correct me if needed. I’m very excited about this opportunity.

EJ Sorensen Jr.: I am very excited for this experience and opportunity.
